Long way home
The road covered in drifts the cars inched every mile
Sad, sad smiles
The day so far away suddenly was today
And they said:
"You don't have to do this alone
No, you don't have to do this alone
Come inside, I'll make you something to eat"
Roof caved in
Mold covered the walls we breathed in every spore
The tire swing, the clubhouse, the cold and driving rain
And I thought:
"I can't do this alone
No I can't do this alone
There's a strength you had I'm afraid I'll never know"
Is it still so wrong to say I'm still afraid
Of what will become of us if we're led astray?
It still comes to me in the quietest part of the day:
The words you said and what they left when they went away
And I'm gonna have to do this alone
No, I gotta do this alone
(Maybe) In another time, another place we'll meet
But all you are for now is a memory
